Around four years ago, I was working on a salaried basis in a completely unrelated field. I had never imagined that a single Facebook post would change the entire trajectory of my professional life. That post was about mixing photorealism and photography in digital visuals. At the time, I didn’t even know what 3D animations really were. But something clicked — it sparked a curiosity in me that I couldn’t shake off.
I began researching and watching YouTube videos late at night. I saw creators bringing ideas to life, building stunning environments, and simulating real-world lighting and textures inside a virtual world. And that’s how it all began — my journey into the realm of 3D animations.
Starting From Scratch: No Gear, No Budget, Just Passion
When I started exploring 3D design, my PC was barely functional for creative tasks. I had an old Intel i3 processor with absolutely no graphics card. Even basic software installations took ages. Rendering a simple object? Forget it.
Despite all this, I wasn’t discouraged. If anything, I became more motivated to push forward. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I made the bold decision to upgrade my setup. I scraped together my savings and went to Lamington Road, Mumbai — one of India’s largest electronic markets — to build a new PC.
My First Investment: The Expensive Mistake
Like many beginners, I got scammed. I ended up spending ₹45,000 on a GTX 1660 Super, a price far above market value even then. But there was no turning back. It was a costly lesson, but it gave me the push I needed.
I poured over ₹80,000 into my upgraded system. It wasn’t top-of-the-line, but it was powerful enough to run Blender and a few render engines. That’s when the real journey began.
Teaching Myself 3D Animations — No Formal Courses
I never enrolled in any expensive 3D animation courses. Everything I know today came from:
- YouTube tutorials
- Blender forums
- Trial and error
- Observing real-world photography and lighting
At first, it was all just fun and learning. I’d create 3D models of water bottles, tables, coffee makers — just everyday items. But the deeper I went, the more I realized how much potential there was in combining 3D animations with product marketing and branding.
From Practice to Real Work: Creating for Real Products
Once I got comfortable with modeling, lighting, and rendering, I started working on small product visualization projects — mostly for myself. I’d pick up shampoo bottles, health products, or gadgets and recreate them in 3D.
These weren’t paid projects. They were practice sessions, but I treated them like client work. This habit paid off. My portfolio started looking professional, even though I hadn’t worked with any real brands yet.
One of my early renders involved creating commercial-style images and animations of beauty products — combining photorealistic rendering with subtle motion and effects.
I was beginning to understand how brands could benefit from high-end 3D animations.
Building My Creative Agency
After a couple of years of consistent learning and creating, I officially launched VNS Creative Agency. The vision was simple: to help brands present their products in the most captivating way using 3D visuals, commercial videos, and motion graphics.
Today, I offer:
- 3D product animations
- Commercial-style videos
- Realistic 3D product images
- VFX-based brand content
What started as an experiment in my bedroom is now a full-service creative agency delivering premium content to beauty, tech, food, and wellness brands.
Lessons I Learned in My 3D Journey
1. Your Curiosity Is Enough to Start
You don’t need a diploma to begin. My only qualification was curiosity. If you’re genuinely interested, you’ll figure everything out.
2. Bad Gear Can’t Stop a Passionate Learner
I worked for months on a basic system. Even now, your ideas and skills matter more than the tools.
3. You Will Make Mistakes
Whether it’s buying overpriced hardware or wasting time on bad renders — mistakes are part of the process.
4. Share Your Work Online
Posting my renders on Instagram and Behance helped me connect with small clients and collaborators early on.
5. Learn Photography Basics
Understanding light, composition, and framing helps you create truly photorealistic 3D animations.
3D Animations Today: My Current Workflow
These days, I use a much more powerful system with Octane Render and Blender. I also integrate Substance Painter for texturing and use After Effects for final touches in videos.
For every project, my workflow includes:
- Client Brief / Concept Design
- Product Modeling
- Texture & Lighting Setup
- Animation / Motion Design
- Rendering
- Post-Processing & Sound Design
Some of my recent commercial works include dynamic product videos for fitness and wellness brands. I’ve even worked on creative VFX like having a crane place a product into a cake like a candle — blending imagination with technical skill.
Why Brands Need 3D Animations Today
In a world where content is consumed in seconds, 3D animations help brands stand out. With 3D, you can:
- Show the product from angles impossible in traditional photography
- Create cinematic product introductions
- Add stunning effects to attract attention
- Render hyper-realistic environments without the cost of physical studios
Even Amazon brands are investing heavily in 3D content to boost conversions. If you’re a product-based brand looking to scale your content — 3D is the future.

What’s Next?
I plan to take my creative agency to the next level — offering custom animations for ecommerce, Amazon, and social media campaigns. I’m also building tools and templates that help other creators get started with 3D more easily.
If you’re a brand owner or content creator curious about 3D animations, you don’t need to wait for a perfect setup. Just start. That’s what I did, and it changed everything.
Final Thoughts
It’s been four years since I started this journey. From a Facebook post to building an agency that serves real clients — the path wasn’t easy, but it was worth every sleepless night.
3D animations aren’t just a creative outlet. They’re a powerful business tool. And for me, they’ve been a life-changing passion.
